A recap of our Voka event: Digital Transformation experts gathered around the table

On Tuesday 11 October, the Voka Digital Transformation Board gathered its troops with the aim of inspiring each other in the context of digital innovation within organisations. This time it was the turn of Tobania’s renowned expert Rob Stox, (Business Unit Manager SMART.Business) and the talented founder of UmanGo, Elke Struys.

No transformation without integration

Elke Struys kicked off her session on 'Social Networking' and how to get people on board with your digital transformation. Because….

Did you know that no less than 75% of transformation projects fail because of resistance from colleagues?

The reasons range from willingness to adapt to transformation fatigue and so on. Fortunately, according to Struys, there are solutions to address this challenge, starting with engaging the right people. Core message? Engage the right 5% of employees who have an impact on your organisation (and no, these are most likely not C-level profiles, but rather "under dogs" with lots of credit). It is mainly through these informal networks that the work gets done, because knowledge and expertise is everywhere within your organisation. Thanks to a social network analysis, Ms. Struys helps organisations create insights and build on trust relationships between people with a certain expertise.

The 6 success factors?
  • Start from a business problem or ambition.
  • Clearly define your assignment.
  • Be open to a larger project roll-out.
  • Keep in mind that transparency and good communication are key.
  • Get a strong business sponsor who helps to obtain your buy-in of various stakeholders.
  • Involve a privacy expert in initial discussions, if necessary.

Rob Stox presents: learning and performance become one thanks to Digital Adoption

Digital What ...? Digital Adoption (DA) means learning to use a new tool digitally and by doing. Actually, Rob compares it to a video game. After all, here as well, the steps are explained through a digital experience that highlights the buttons you need to click on and that makes the right information appear through a pop-up box.

The Digital Adoption Platform has several components: it includes insights, guidance, involvement, automatisation and confidence. The latter represents the ease of use that DA brings. Rob and his team also developed a system check that keeps DA systems up-to-date.

Rob and Business Consultant Wannes showed how this tool has already become indispensable for many users! This new technology was also demonstrated live yesterday using several demos that attendees could try out for themselves. And as you can guess, they were instant fans! One of the attendees even called the tool a GPS for all kinds of applications. Well done, Rob and the team! #proudTobian
