The Mini Techorama Throwback

Trend spotting and lessons learned by our experts

Techorama 2022 has come to an end. And we look back with a satisfied mind! A deep dive into our Development world, a LEGO challenge, and an Azure Logic Apps talk by our Tobian Wouter Bauchart on the Partner Stage: we can definitely say Developer enthusiasts enjoyed themselves to the full at our booth.

Wouter Bauchaert – .NET Developer

  • The latest and coolest trend you have spotted?

The Azure Container Apps: an easy serverless Kubernetes hosting solution.

  • Best speaker session you have attended?

What's New in Azure? - Derek Martin: it's always useful to get an overview of what is becoming generally available and what is being tested by the Azure Team!

  • Your description of the Tobania corner?

Our booth was the perfect happy place between food and drinks, with a funny LEGO challenge to check out in between.

  • Lessons learned during the event?

Be wary with blockchain, cryptography technology and GDPR. "Make authentication and identity someone else's problem" - Christos Matskas.

  • Your points (out of 10) towards Techorama 2022?

9/10.

You also hosted a session yourself “Breaking a Monolith
Data Import into Azure
Logic Apps Quick”, can you quickly share
your take-aways from this?

  1. Disconnect your functionalities so that each component can concentrate on doing its thing perfectly and unhindered.
  2. Don't reinvent the wheel! Reuse what has been created a million times before by everyone.
  3. No- & Low-Code solutions can work in harmony with your customised applications.

David Nysten - .NET Developer

  • The latest and coolest trend you have spotted?

The new C# 11 features and Azure Event Hubs.

  • Best speaker session you have attended?

C# Records Inside Out - Rainer Stropek: I learnt a lot of new things during this session in a very short time through clear code examples. I’m convinced that in some cases, the topic can help us improve our project performance.

  • Your description of the Tobania corner?

Simple, but honest: nice!

  • Lessons learned during the event?

I have been to Techorama many times, so in that respect I can tell you less newsworthy things, but the sessions were extremely interesting.

  • Your points (out of 10) towards Techorama 2022?

8/10: The Las Vegas theme was fun, although it can hardly surpass the space theme of the previous edition.

Tommy De Notarpietro - .NET Developer

  • The latest and coolest trend you have spotted?

Frameworks such as Microsoft .Net Maui, to build multi-platform applications that can run on Apple, Windows, Android and even in a web browser.

  • Best speaker session you have attended?

Building Offline Capable Progressive Web Apps - Yves Goeleven: because it was very practical in terms of code examples. I also liked the closing keynote by Richard Campbell about the past and future of technology.

  • Your description of the Tobania corner?

I loved the humour on our t-shirts, which were for sale on the corner of our booth. And many people entered the LEGO competition as well. Very nice to see!

  • Lessons learned during the event?

Cloud services and hosting will continue to play an important role in combination with web or multi-platform applications.

  • Your points (out of 10) towards Techorama 2022?

8/10.

Slobodan Stojcic - .NET Developer

  • The latest and coolest trend you have spotted?

For me, the most interesting thing was to learn how to secure mobile apps and minimal APIs with the Microsoft Identity platform. Not to mention all the new features in C#.

  • Best speaker session you have attended?

There are two for me. The first is Christos Matskas (Secure mobile apps with the Microsoft Identity platform) and the second Bart De Smet (What's new in C# 11?). Why? Because they both know what they are talking about. Moreover, they have shown many examples and have coded on the spot.

  • Your description of the Tobania corner?

Spent most of my time there, bumped into lots of new people. Overall, very nice.

  • Lessons learned during the event?

Technology continues to develop rapidly and there are still many new things I would like to learn.

  • Your points (out of 10) towards Techorama 2022?

9/10.
